Situations during the pandemic changed my perspective of digital sounds. All my devices would inundate my ears with work conversations throughout the day. When the time would come to unwind, I will be unwilling to explore what other sounds can those same devices produce.
Before pandemic, I used to listen to a lot of music and podcasts. As most of my work conversations have been moving to physical settings, I have found the joy of digital listening again. This started with an audiobook last month that made me realize I can fill more of my day with non-work sounds and music without going through any auditory burnout like before. Now when I plug in earphones it's not for joining a meeting, but to enjoy a fresh playlist or an episode that I was looking forward to. Just like it used to happen years ago.
