Last year was a low in terms of my readings. In the beginning of the year, I tried to make a proactive list for books that I will read which seems to have helped a little. Here is what I read in 2023:
- Lifespan: Why We Ageāand Why We Don't Have To
- The Bangalore Detectives Club
- Foundation
- Rendezvous with Rama
- The Inner Game of Tennis
- Ways of Seeing
- How to Take Smart Notes
- How the Marquis Got His Coat Back
- A Guide to the Good Life: The Ancient Art of Stoic Joy
- Rest: Why You Get More Done When You Work Less
- Emotional: How Feelings Shape Our Thinking
- The Torrents of Spring
- How to build a low-tech internet
- Driven to Distraction (Revised): Recognizing and Coping with Attention Deficit Disorder
- Manto and Chughtai: The Essential Stories
- An Elegant Puzzle: Systems of Engineering Management
- Ubik
Highlighted items have been my favorites for the year.
I made a list of 20 books to read in the beginning. And I thought I will add more and end up reading 30+ in total. But from the original list of 20, I only read 4. The additional list was 29 books, out of which I read 13.
While I didn't get to my target, I am overall satisfied with readings this year. I got a lot of books, read interesting ones, and generally spent good time thinking about ideas from my readings. I will follow a similar approach in 2024 too.
